Aug 08, 2020 · I have a Core i7-7820x which hits about 4.6ghz to 4.7ghz when overclocked, and I upgraded a relative's system to a 9900k which topped out at 5.0ghz. That same relative had an 8700k which could hit 5.2ghz stable but the the CPU was pretty close to overheating at that speed and that 8700k needed to be delidded to run at 5.2ghz 24/7. May 01, 2020 · The most exciting thing about the new Intel 10th gen desktop processors may very well be their pricing. Surprisingly, the high-end i9-10900K retails for $488 while its predecessor, the i9-9900K came with a higher $530 asking price. And the story continues in other members of the lineup as well; like Core i3, i5, i7 processors.
The gains from the overclock can also be very worthwhile as the i7-6700K only really clocks at 4GHz with turbo only taking a single core at a time up to 4.2GHz. If you can take all cores up to 4.7GHz as well as using sufficiently fast RAM to take advantage of the overclock then you're close to a 20% gain in performance.
my 5.0Ghz 9900k is what I'd consider a "weak" sample sitting at 4.0ghz ring and 1.285v on a z390 dark. It required 1.375v to hit 5.2, with the ring reduced to 3.5 and still *really* doesn't like avx at or above 5.2. Sep 18, 2011 · Personally I use 4.5ghz @ 1.34 volts (LLC / vdroop is minimal so highest it will go is like 1.344 and will underclock to 1.33 ish at times) and temps ranging from 65-70. I could push it more but it takes way too much increase in voltage to get 4.7ghz (1.4v and around 70-78) so I opted to stick to 4.5. Jun 07, 2020 · sold my old pc with a i75820 clocked at 5ghz all cores went 2 a 9900k have it clocked at 5.3ghz all cores. some games will take some good from 9900k but not a lot as the i7 5820k is still a very good chip Apr 02, 2019 · If you want to save a lot of time, set your bios voltage to 1.20v first, LLC6, then test prime95 29.7 build 1 (check their forums for the FTP site). test custom in place AVX 15K-15K fft size. The XMP voltage is so massively over the top that it can actually cause you instabilities. Take my 2700X for example. No matter what profile I apply, it wants to feed by IMC 1.2v (the maximum safe voltage on AMD) by default. That is actually unstable for me and caused so many headaches that it's not even funny. With a Turbo Boost 2.0 frequency of up to 5.0GHz for a single core, and 4.7GHz for six to eight cores, the Core i9-9900K promises delicious performance in games, which still tend to be more sensitive to clock speeds. Aug 26, 2019 · First, we will lock the 9900k at its 3.6GHz all core base clock speed, with a 1.15V Vcore applied in the BIOS. Then, let the system idle in windows for 15 minutes and measure temperature. The stock all core turbo clock on the 9900K is 4.7GHz, enabling multi-core enhancement will increase that to 5GHz. Start with 49x or 50x, and you can just type it in on most motherboards.Nov 15, 2019 · What I do is set XMP II, bump the voltage up to 1.40 (don't do 1.2 since it still needs to power the LEDs, actually keeps the voltage from dropping too much) and then just set the speed to 3466. 100% boot success at that speed and 3500, but explained my reasons for going a touch lower. Remembered something, you said you just completed this build. Now, we will use the 9900K as our example in this guide, and by default all core Turbo of the 9900K is 4.7GHz, meaning all cores can operate at 4.7GHz all the time.Oct 19, 2018 · It also has a monstrous 4.7GHz all-core boost, which is 400MHz faster than the Core i7-8700K, 700MHz higher than the Core i9-7900X and roughly the same over the Ryzen 7 2700X depending on worldload. Default voltage on Gigabyte board for 9900k is insanely high. You need to downclock it. The default pretty much get you 4.7Ghz on all core at all time, and you can pull even further if you want to. Dec 10, 2018
I've never been able to take my i9-9900K far beyond 4.7GHz. Someone else might be able to tell you their voltages, but bear in mind that what works for one person might not work for another. (cooling, silicone lottery etc. will influence your "acceptable" voltage range). 1.3v to 1.32v is usually the highest recommended voltage for the i9-9900K.
Oct 30, 2019 · In comparison with the 9900K all-core 4.7GHz, the 9900KS is undoubtedly more powerful. Certainly, users can overclock the standard 9900K or even 9700K to reach the full-core 5GHz frequency, but the high-voltage might damage your CPU or even crash your whole system! Between each voltage adjustment, restart the system and run CPU-Z, CoreTemp and Prime 95 to determine if the overclock remains stable. Your results will vary, but our chip here, which is by no means a pre-binned chip, was able to run at 4.7GHz stable using a core voltage of 1.27V and Ultra Load Line Calibration. The graphs below demonstrate the difference between Intel Core i9-9900K and Ryzen 9 3950X most important characteristics. I have an i9-9900k that I cannot seem to get past 4.7GHz (default turbo speed) when at 100% workload. When it's idle, it's at 5Ghz. Here's the info and what I've tried: My CPU temps are in the 50s-60s. Vrms Temps in the 60s. Disabled CState. CPU Voltage is at 1.34 (just to make sure it has enough to get to 5ghz) Disabled MCE. AVX Offset set to 0My 9900k requires 1.335v/1.34v for stability at 5GHz. It will not boot into Windows with less than 1.27v with 4.7Ghz all score. This is with XMP 3200. Seems like I got a pretty standard (or underaverage) performer. My temperatures hit the low 90s in x264 blend test. I am running it right now at 4.7ghz all score, xmp 3200, and 1.27v with turbo LLC.
Now, we will use the 9900K as our example in this guide, and by default all core Turbo of the 9900K is 4.7GHz, meaning all cores can operate at 4.7GHz all the time.
These applications use AVX but don't have an extreme power draw (~150W on 9900K @ 4.7GHz all-core Turbo). So why penalize all AVX loads when only a few stresstests run with extreme power draw. I have also seen boards limiting by IccMax but it's harder to predict at what point/load the cpu will be limited. Oct 30, 2019 · Jumping over to the Silicon Lottery website highlights that a Core i9-9900K that is capable of 4.9GHz under AVX loading is rare, even if the tested voltage is a reasonable 1.312V. Only increasing voltage would get Geekbench 100% stable. Also, as far as I know, AVX offset doesn't work right with macOS. If, for example, you set multiplier to 50 with an AVX offset of 3, the CPU would only get as high as 4.7GHz when in macOS and never hit 5GHz. Of course, AVX offset works as expected in Windows... Jan 19, 2020 · The difference between 4.7GHz and 5Ghz is really minimal in terms of FPS but huge in terms of Temperature. We are talking of 10FPS max usually more like 5-7FPS. Just keep in mind that although you have a good cpu cooler the vrm area will not have the same ventilation as if you would be using an air cooler. Go easy on it. I hope this helped .

This results in better performance than even the Core i9 7900X which makes it a terrific value for Premiere Pro.
Electricity, noise, or chip degradation or a mixture, if its just chip degradation then any run of the mill 9900k should be doing 4.9Ghz at 1.3v, and at that voltage on a 9900k there is no point of even thinking about it, you'll be rebuilding a new system LONG before 1.3v causes any harm to a 9900k. 9900k breezes @4.9Ghz, @5.0Ghz is another ...
